The CNMI Department of Labor (DOL) is advising all businesses that, beginning January 2026, new requirements for the Certificate of Good Standing (COGS) will take effect. These updates were made after a departmental review identified redundancies in the documentation process. The new policy streamlines requirements while reinforcing compliance and workplace safety standards.

The CNMI Department of Labor is reminding all employers that timely communication with the Department and affected employees is required in the event of a Reduction in Force (RIF) or business closure, as outlined in § 80-20.1-240 of the CNMI Administrative Code.
