SAIPAN, CNMI — In light of the ongoing recovery efforts following Typhoon Sinlaku, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Department of Labor (DOL) is taking proactive steps to support the local business community. Secretary of Labor Leila Staffler announced today that the department will extend the deadline for the submission of the Quarterly Report of Census of Employment, which was originally scheduled for April 30th. The Department recognizes the immense pressure our employers and administrative staff are currently facing. As families and businesses work to restore power, repair damages, and ensure the safety of their personnel, the DOL is committed to removing administrative burdens that may hinder these vital recovery efforts.
“Our thoughts and hearts are with every individual and business owner affected by Typhoon Sinlaku,” said Secretary Leila Staffler. “The priority right now must remain on the well-being of our community and the restoration of our islands. We want our partners in the business sector to focus on their families and their recovery without the immediate concern of filing deadlines. We are here to support you, and we will get through this recovery together.”
At this time, a new deadline has not been established. Secretary Staffler and the Department of Labor will continue to assess the situation and the progress of the community’s recovery. A formal announcement regarding a revised submission date will be issued once the recovery phase has reached a more stable point for all stakeholders. Employers are encouraged to focus their resources on their immediate needs. Further updates and guidance will be provided through the CNMI Department of Labor’s official website and social media platforms.
