Secretary Leila Fleming Staffler brings over 20 years of public service experience to her role leading the CNMI Department of Labor. As a veteran educator and administrator within the Commonwealth public education system, she has dedicated her career to elevating local youth.
Secretary Staffler spent nearly 10 years as a beloved teacher influencing thousands of students. She then served over a decade in school leadership positions, including at Kagman High School. There she drew upon her artistic talents and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership to enrich programs.
Local communities also benefited from Secretary Staffler’s educational expertise through her election to the Commonwealth House of Representatives. As a legislator she chaired critical committees on education, health and welfare over six years.
The Secretary also lends her insights around high school apprenticeships and supporting those with developmental disabilities through committee involvement. She is driven by a passion to create more opportunities for islanders to develop new skills and chart meaningful careers while staying close to home.
Secretary Staffler translates this diverse public sector experience into leading workforce development initiatives at the Department of Labor. Her multifaceted community engagement enables the DOL’s mission to empower CNMI workers.
