CNMI DOL Job Fair Set for Sept. 15

THE CNMI Department of Labor will host a job fair on Sept. 15 at the Hibiscus Hall of the Crowne Plaza Resort from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

James Ulloa, DOL labor certification supervisor, said 30 employers from the hotel, travel, tourism, construction and other industries will be present.

“We encourage everybody looking for employment to take advantage of this job fair,” Ulloa said.  “This is one way to really show your interest. The employers will be there for one-on-one interactions.”

DOL Secretary Leila Staffler said the job fair can be an “economic multiplier” that brings jobs and job seekers together.

“The goals are to help businesses find long-term solutions to their workforce needs by providing training and frameworks like registered apprenticeship programs that help their bottom line,” she said.

DOL said this year’s job fair theme is “Let’s Keep the CNMI Working.” The CW touchback policy is going into effect on the 30th of this month and is “surely going to affect the CNMI’s workforce,” DOL said.

Ulloa said job seekers should come to the job fair prepared with résumés and should dress professionally. “Enter the workforce and develop yourself,” he added.
